MacKID's Picks For At-Home Family Fun This Week

Free virtual events to celebrate the holidays through New Year's Eve

By Kara Murphy December 27, 2022

We ended up having a very COVID Christmas at our house, which means we've been spending a LOT of time at home! I know we're far from alone — whether sickness, travel woes, or weather, many of us had disrupted plans this holiday. I hope, most importantly, you've stayed safe — and if sick, are recovering quickly.

If you do find yourself at home more this week than anticipated or just need to keep the kids entertained for a few hours, we've rounded up free virtual events and inspirational at-home fun to help:

1. Gather Together To Celebrate Kwanzaa

Join in an evening of song, dance, poetry, community, and joy to celebrate Kwanzaa at this virtual free event. Dec. 28

Wondering where your local events are?

A Macaroni KID site near you needs a publisher to keep the local events calendar full!
If you're interested in being a publisher for Macaroni KID in your town, visit now and find out if a territory is open near you! Or share with a friend or family member looking for a great at-home job! There's no better time than to start — join us in 2023!

2. STEAM, Snacks, & Stories For Creative Kids

We're back at the New York Public Library! Children ages 7-10 can learn a recipe and make a craft at this fun, free online get-together with the New York Public Library! Register now as there are limited spaces available for this free virtual event. Dec. 30

3. Aargh! New Year's Eve Fun With the Story Pirates

4. Rockin' in The New Year With the Seattle Aquarium
